I have always been a fan of Ted Baker but i have to say the brand moves higher and higher in my expectations every season mainly because of the exquisite prints.
I was in Bristol Cabot Circus earlier this week (which i have to say of all the shopping centers i have visited this was by far the worst - especially as Primark was the highlight!) but i did stumble across a stand alone Ted Baker store. As i normally see Ted Baker in department stores it was a real surprise and delight to visit this beautiful shop.
Ted Baker is know for its prints and quirky element as well as beautifully designed pieces and the store its self was no different. Random old artifacts like a Singer sewing machine, hat racks and old fashion style suitcases slotted in and around rails and displays of gorgeous clothing and accessories. Unlike many modern stores where all the items are packed together with very little thought to VM displays, every element of this store was carefully planned. From the old fashion glass counters for displaying accessories to the decadent boudoir style changing rooms and gilded mirrors. And the men's department was no different - varying prints interspersed with clean cut modern clothing with those classic elements that make men's tailoring.
Even the window displays excited me - not a simple plain boring white window with a couple of mannequins. No this store has 3 floor to ceiling windows that flow into the shop, no set divide between window and store just a clever display of SS12 campaign images and well chosen outfits. They also included whimsical elements such as an antique bird cage (complete with little bird) with a china Siamese cat sat on a stool watching the bird - not really linked to the brand just an inventive display idea.
After my visit here are my top picks from the SS12 collection - featuring prints that only Ted Baker can create.
